Definitely Mightbe | Oasis tribute

Didn't get Oasis tickets? Don’t worry, we’ve got the next best thing at the Regal!

The longest established Oasis tribute in the world with over 2,000 shows under their belt.  So, as good as the real thing?

Well the lengendary Alan McGee thought so when he recently introduced the band live on stage! So they…..DEFINITELY MIGHTBE.

Together for 18yrs and with over 2,000 shows under their belt, it’s easy to see why they are the most successful and admired Oasis show out there. With several tours on the prestigious o2 Academy circuit, appearances at huge open air festivals, continual tours across the UK and Ireland plus gigs all over Europe, the Middle East and even the Caribbean!

The backstage bust ups and slanging matches on Twitter proved too much for this great British band but DEFINITELY MIGHTBE don’t share the same sibling rivalry as the real thing. They do however have a lot in common when it comes to reproducing the rousing anthems, stage presence and atmosphere that the originals created. Playing a selection from all seven albums including the hit singles, live favourites and a couple of Noel’s acoustic numbers make this a great show to watch.

Lead singer Ian bears an uncanny resemblance to Liam and has worked as a look-a-like in the UK appearing on BBC1, Channel 4, Sky TV and ITV. Publicity campaigns and advertising for HMV, Virgin, Q Magazine, Loaded, Royal Bank Of Scotland, Lloyds Bank and the National Press. Ian was also asked to star in a video for heavy metal legends MOTORHEAD as Liam and also providing a voice over for a recent documentary accompanying the new Oasis-”Time Flies” DVD. To add to this, Ian has the knack of sounding like Liam too and was asked to provide the vocals on a dance remix of Wonderwall set for release in summer 2010.

Paul Mitchell takes up the reigns as Noel and mimics the riffs and lead breaks with such precision you’d think you were listening to the CD. A very loud CD. While the rhythm section of Kev Pyne on bass and Pete Coppard on drums keep everything locked together and completes the DEF MB family.

So, as good as the real thing? Well the legendary Alan McGee thought so when he recently introduced the band live on stage! So they…..DEFINITELY MIGHTBE.

From three-time Oscar® nominee and Golden Globe winner Dean DeBlois, the creative visionary behind DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, comes a stunning live-action reimagining of the film that launched the beloved franchise.

On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated franchise), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.

With the fierce and ambitious Astrid (BAFTA nominee Nico Parker; Dumbo, The Last of Us) and the village’s quirky blacksmith Gobber (Nick Frost; Snow White and the Huntsman, Shaun of the Dead) by his side, Hiccup confronts a world torn by fear and misunderstanding.

As an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. DOUBLE BILL James Walsh (Starsailor) & Ben Ottewell (Gomez)

We’re thrilled to present a very special double-bill: Ben Ottewell (Gomez) and James Walsh (Starsailor) – live at the Regal.

A rare acoustic evening featuring two of the most distinctive voices in British indie from the last 30 years, performing timeless songs on guitar and grand piano.

About Ben Ottewell

Ben Ottewell is a British musician best known as the gravelly-voiced frontman of the indie rock band Gomez. Gomez quickly gained attention with their debut album, "Bring It On," released in 1998, which won the Mercury Music Prize. Ottewell's distinctive vocals and songwriting contributed to the band's unique sound, characterized by a blend of blues, folk, and rock elements. The band went on to release several critically acclaimed albums, including "Liquid Skin" (1999) and "In Our Gun" (2002). With a career spanning over two decades, Ben Ottewell continues to captivate audiences with his powerful performances and evocative songwriting, cementing his legacy as one of the most distinctive voices in British rock music.

About James Walsh

James Walsh first made his name as the frontman, guitarist and principal songwriter of the multi-platinum British band Starsailor. With hits like Alcoholic and Silence Is Easy, his distinctive voice became a defining sound of early 2000s indie rock.

Alongside his work with the band, James has built a rich solo career, releasing acclaimed albums including Turning Point (2014), Tiger on the Bridge (2019), and Small Illusions (2021). His latest solo release, Renewal, was written while recording Where the Wild Things Grow – Starsailor’s latest album – and reflects the same sense of hope found in its lead single, Better Times.

Night In The Canyon

This homage to the golden age of American(a) music, 'A Night In The Canyon' features the timeless songs of James Taylor, Carole King, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Buffalo Springfield, Eagles, Joni Mitchell and more.

If that's not enough, the show will be performed by an unrivalled trio of noted high calibre artists in their own right. Namely Robbie Cavanagh (Winner of the Whispering Bob Harris Emerging Artist Award), Eddy Smith about to headline, in his own right, the famous 'Jazz Cafe' (where the likes of Bobby Womack, Chaka Khan and many more household names), and Jana Varga(Emerging Artist nominee, UK Blues and Roots) who is now in the band of (triple platinum and double Brit nominee) Rumer and Jana will also be opening for Rumer at a now sold out gig at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Hall. So, not a show by your average, workmanlike, musicians!

As such, this is not a tribute show in the traditional sense of the word, but more the artists themselves performing their own takes, both individually and collectively, on these timeless classics of the late 60s/early 70s American songbook, together with an award winning song of two of their own, inspired by this legendary period of celebrated music..

Grey Wolf

We’re delighted to welcome back the popular Marches band Grey Wolf for a headline show on the 19th September.

Many will remember their hugely successful show in April last year and they’ve just followed that with another sell out gig in our studio as part of the Regal Folk Festival.

‘The nice thing about our recent gigs is the number of new faces we’re seeing,’ says Andy Offer, Grey Wolf’s bass player, ‘We love to see our friends and regular supporters but its great to meet new people too.  We’re preparing a new show for September with new songs and tunes as well as the old favourites,’ he adds, ‘We want to keep people coming back for more!’

A testimonial from a recent gig:

‘Their enthusiasm and clear love of the music, not to mention their obvious camaraderie, shines through while their talent on an array of instruments is highly impressive. They had the hall gripped, and smiling, for the full two hours. No wonder they are so popular.’

Rupert Anton – Pudleston Village Hall Chairman

Grey Wolf is an acoustic Americana/old-time folk band from the Welsh Marches playing traditional instruments such as banjo, fiddle, guitar, dulcimer, mandolin and double bass alongside fine vocal and harmony singing. The band has headlined several of the prestigious UK's Old Time American Music and Dance Festivals and has appeared on radio, at folk clubs, festivals, and music and literary venues throughout the UK.

Seth was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005 for 'Kitty Jay'. Multiple albums, tours and high-profile collaborations later, the acclaimed folk artist released his latest studio album The Granite Way in February on his own label, Honour Oak Records. It’s a collection of songs recorded alongside a group of longtime collaborators of Seth’s, staying true to his roots and referring to ancient stories that inspired early West Country storytelling.

Seth Lakeman: ‘Each song feels strongly connected through history to the moors and the sea. I had written the stories and songs beforehand and had the melodic tunes ready for us all to explore when we recorded in the room, and the musical interplay between this lineup really displays their appetite for sounds and subjects within the folk tradition.’

In recent years Seth was asked to record on Van Morrison’s album ‘Moving On Skiffle’ and he collaborated with Public Service Broadcasting. Seth has also previously worked, and toured extensively, with Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) with his band the Sensational Space Shifters.

This is a live broadcast performance.

The peasant girl Giselle has fallen in love with Albrecht. When she discovers that he is actually a nobleman promised to another, she kills herself in despair. Her spirit joins the Wilis: the vengeful ghosts of women hell-bent on killing any man who crosses their path in a dance to the death. Wracked with guilt, Albrecht visits Giselle’s grave, where he must face the Wilis – and Giselle’s ghost.

Peter Wright’s 1985 production of this quintessential Romantic ballet is a classic of The Royal Ballet repertory. The Fureys

After 4 previous performances, THE FUREYS will play their last ever concert at the Regal as part of their FAREWELL TOUR on Thursday 30th April.

Legends of Irish music & song, The FUREYS renowned for their hit songs ‘I will love you’, ‘When you were sweet 16’, ‘The Green fields of France’, ‘The old man’, ‘Red rose café’, ‘From Clare to here’, ‘Her father didn’t like me anyway’, ‘Leaving Nancy’, ‘Steal away’ etc take to our stage for the final time as part of their FAREWELL TOUR.

The oldest of the brothers, Eddie Furey left home in 1966 and travelled to Scotland at the time of the great folk revival where he met and shared accommodation with then unknown folk singers Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty.

In 1972, Gerry Rafferty wrote ‘Her father didn’t like me anyway’ for Eddie. BBC Radio 1 presenter, the late John Peel made it his single of the year.

They are particularly proud of their UK chart success with songs such as I Will Love You and When You Were Sweet Sixteen, which in turn helped bring Irish folk and traditional music to a completely new audience. The band made their Top of the Pops debut in 1981.

Eddie Furey recalls how "many musicians have told us we influenced them after hearing a record from their parents or grandparents' collection". Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics has credited Eddie with teaching him his first chords on the guitar while still a teenager. Eddie would return the compliment by joining Dave on stage in Paris for a jam during Dave’s wedding to Bananarama’s Siobhan Fahey.

Their emotive songs stir many emotions, tears and laughter, sadness and joy.

Ben Ottewell of Gomez (plus support from GRACiE BEVERLEY)

Please note this show is now sold out! To join the waiting list please click ‘book tickets now’.

We’re delighted to welcome Ben Ottewell for an intimate show in the Regal Studio supported by Gracie Beverley.

Ben Ottewell is a British musician best known as the gravelly-voiced frontman of the indie rock band Gomez. Born on June 23, 1976, in Chesterfield, England, Ottewell began his musical journey at a young age, inspired by his father's eclectic record collection. In 1996, he co-founded Gomez with Ian Ball, Tom Gray, Paul Blackburn, and Olly Peacock while studying at university in Sheffield.

Throughout Gomez's career, Ottewell's soulful voice and introspective lyrics resonated with fans, earning him a dedicated following. His solo career saw him exploring a more stripped-down acoustic sound, showcasing his raw talent and emotive storytelling. In 2011, Ottewell released his debut solo album, "Shapes & Shadows," followed by "Rattlebag" in 2014 and ‘A Man Apart’ in 2017

With a career spanning over two decades, Ben Ottewell continues to captivate audiences with his powerful performances and evocative songwriting, cementing his legacy as one of the most distinctive voices in British rock music.

About Gracie Beverley:
GRACiE is a singer-songwriter and pianist, writing romantic indie music sprinkled with jazz. Her smooth, crooner voice carries nostalgic lyrics born from a need to capture honest emotions and real moments. She spent most of her childhood travelling Europe with a 25 piece Big Band which introduced her to swing music. As a self taught pianist, who grew up around musicians, she is a naturally intimate and emotional performer. GRACiE's music has been featured on BBC 6 Music, and she performed as part of a concert for BBC Introducing which later aired on BBC iPlayer. GRACiE's new single, ‘The Big Bang' is a cosmic love story, a metaphor for that explosive moment when love sparks life into being.
