Comedy Night (18)

This unique comedy night is to raise money for Tenbury High Ormiston  Academy.

Prepare to laugh your socks off with 4 great comedians.

----------------

DAN EVANS

For nearly two decades Dan's accessible, childish surrealism has delighted audiences throughout the U(for the time being)K and Ireland. He's also had his grammar corrected by Dutch and German crowds; performed for chubby sweating ex-pats in Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, and Hanoi, Vietnam.

'a favourite with audiences as well as with his notoriously hard-to-please
comedic peers' The Guardian.

'silliness taken to the nth degree' Milton Jones.

----------------

JOHN ROBERTSON

Hi-octane Australian clown who shows up, performs a series of acts he should probably be arrested for, and leaves.

“NOT TO BE MISSED” - The Guardian

★★★★★ “Strides onstage giving precisely zero f*cks” - The Skinny

★★★★ “a splendid comedy beast” - The Scotsman

★★★★ “this is astute, amoral comedy for the morbidly-inclined” - The Age

★★★★ “a triumph” - Herald Sun

----------------

LIAM MULLONE

Liam Mullone’s dark, exasperated, libertarian-contrarian humour made him both a favourite and a bête noir of comedy critics for 15 years; many of his routines taking apart the lazy liberal groupthink that undies much of comedy today. He created Radio 4’s Liam Mullone’s Disappointing World and helped write shows for Henning Wehn, Hal Cruttenden and Russell Howard.

“An intellectual bruiser of a comedian” – Chortle

“Up to the eyeballs in hilarious gloom’ – The Guardian

“Brave, curious, disturbing and fantastical.” - The Independent

----------------

CAROLINE MABEY

One of the most inventive comic voices in Britain, Caroline Mabey (“Oddball genius” -Chortle) is disarmingly silly, warm and smart. Her playful comedy will tickle your funny bones and send you off with a big smile on your face.

Caroline has recently appeared on Comedy Central as part of their Performance Anxiety campaign, and in Josh Howie's Losing It on BBC Radio 4. She has also written for Radio 4's News Quiz.

She is one half of double act the Two Stupids, with multi-award-winning comedian Michael Legge, and she also co-hosts the Self Renovators podcast.

“Funny and touching and brilliant” –The Guardian

“A mischievous, kooky talent” Time Out

“An absolute delight to watch. Fantastically ditzy and spectacularly absurd” – The Skinny

Present Laughter
by Noël Coward

Matthew Warchus directs Andrew Scott (BBC’s Sherlock, Fleabag) in Noël Coward’s provocative comedy Present Laughter.

As he prepares to embark on an overseas tour, star actor Garry Essendine’s colourful life is in danger of spiralling out of control. Engulfed by an escalating identity crisis as his many and various relationships compete for his attention, Garry’s few remaining days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, sex, panic and soul-searching.

Captured live from The Old Vic in London, Present Laughter is a giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness.

Joker (15) - New Date Added

Joker centers around an origin of the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

The Joaquin Phoenix performance is getting a lot of coverage as a potential Oscar contender.

"Bold, devastating and utterly beautiful, Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix have not just reimagined one of the most iconic villains in cinema history, but reimagined the comic book movie itself"  Empire

Hansard (NTLive)

Hansard; noun

The official report of all parliamentary debates.

See two-time Olivier Award winners, Lindsay Duncan (Birdman, About Time) and Alex Jennings (The Lady in the Van, The Queen), in this brand-new play by Simon Wood, broadcast live from the National Theatre in London.

It’s a summer’s morning in 1988 and Tory politician Robin Hesketh has returned home to the idyllic Cotswold house he shares with his wife of 30 years, Diana. But all is not as blissful as it seems. Diana has a stinking hangover, a fox is destroying the garden, and secrets are being dug up all over the place. As the day draws on, what starts as gentle ribbing and the familiar rhythms of marital scrapping quickly turns to blood-sport.

Don’t miss this witty and devastating portrait of the governing class, directed by Simon Godwin (NT Live: Antony & Cleopatra, Twelfth Night) and part of National Theatre Live’s 10th birthday season.

Barry Steele In The Roy Orbison Story - Live

After 2 sell out years at the Regal in Nov 2017 & 2018, Barry Steele is back by popular demand!

He’s the man with the sunglasses and the black suit who delivered some of the world’s darkest and most emotional ballads, yet Texas-born Roy Orbison remains one of the most distinctive looking, and sounding performers in modern music, despite dying 30 years ago leaving others to bring his music to the concert stage.

But Barry Steele, who takes on the role in The Roy Orbison Story, comes with very great credentials and a genuine admiration for the Big “O”. Now he is set to put the rock back into ‘Roy Orbison’ as he takes to the stage to commemorate this legend in The Roy Orbison Story 30 Year Special.

Expect what is being billed as an upbeat and contemporary slant on Orbison's legacy, as Barry Steele and Friends take audiences on a musical journey from the early Sun years right through to the late 1980s, when Orbison was experiencing a huge resurgence in popularity and worked with Bono, Bruce Springsteen and others including super group the Traveling Wilburys alongside former Beatle George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne.

So get ready for a night of solid gold 60s hits and 80s contemporary genius as the Roy Orbison Story celebrates the musical legacy of The Big O. As well as the toe tapping sound of the music giant that is Roy Orbison, you'll hear the fantastic Barry Steele perform songs written by Roy Orbison, but never performed by him!

Barry Steele has been stunning audiences across the globe with his uncanny ability to recreate the vocal talents of the legendary Roy Orbison. This unmissable show will take you on a musical journey in time - don't miss out!
